Kim Kalicki at the WTO

Wiesbaden, May 2025 – Power, precision, and team spirit: At this year’s Wiesbaden Tennis Open, we had the pleasure of welcoming an exceptional athlete – Kim Kalicki, 2023 two-woman bobsleigh world champion, 2022 European champion, and multiple international medalist. Born in Wiesbaden, Kalicki visited the tournament as a special guest and proved once again that elite sports know no boundaries – whether it’s speed on ice or passion on the court.

The decorated athlete, who also serves as Chief Inspector with the state police, was accompanied by Peter Gresch, chairman of her club TuS Eintracht Wiesbaden 1846, where she has long trained and competed. Together, they took center stage during the tournament as Kim joined Dr. Jan Nieswiodek for a live interview, offering fascinating insights into the world of bobsleigh and the immense teamwork required behind each high-speed run.

Kalicki, who already secured a World Championship silver medal back in 2020, impressed the audience not only with her achievements but also with her grounded and approachable personality. Her visit was a reminder of how interconnected and inspiring the world of sports can be – and how the Wiesbaden Tennis Open continues to be a platform for more than just tennis: it’s a space for meaningful encounters, dialogue, and shared passion.
